Today's NRS Mersey Valley Tour got under way with the Individual Time Trial this morning. The atmosphere at the staging centre in Forth was electric as teams and officials mustered for the start.
At the end of Stage 1 Tasmanian star, Georgia Baker is showing great form with a time of 22:15 for the 15km U/19 women's course out and back on the Wilmot Road. Georgia's time managed to eclipse the 22:21 set by the fastest Elite Women's rider Rebecca Wiasak from Canberra.
In the U/19 Men it was Alexander Morgan of Blackburn CC in Victoria who set fastest time at 31:05 for the 24km course.
Jayco-Honeyshotz rider Jordan Kerby has the GC jersey heading into the mountains for Stage 2 from Forth to Moina. Jordan set a TT time of 29:42 despite the drizzle that descended over the course making life very slippery indeed! Coupled with the mix of local traffic and entrants in Targa Tasmania things looked pretty interesting out there.
